The holdall does not have any pockets or compartments and just opens to one big space. I am not a light packer and even I can fit everything I need for several days away in there. The bag is made from real leather, and you can feel the weight and quality of it even when it is empty. It is genuinely tough enough to carry rocks in (although I'm not sure why you would want to).
The only criticism I have of the holdall is that when it is very full and heavy the handles do dig into your palms. I would advise someone to invest slightly more and buy the model that comes with the detahable shoulder strap. That is my only regret.
