American accessories label Coach are set to mark their 70th Anniversary this year with a range of innovative ideas and products that include a bag designed by renowned fashion blogger Emily Jonston.
The aforenamed bag was designed by Emily of FashionFoieGras.com who was chosen due to her love of the brand and American roots, thus becoming instrumental in the design and collaboration of the handbag in New York at the company’s headquarters. Originally from the US Emily Jonston is now based in London and blogs about fashion religiously on a daily basis with a cult following (over 17,000 people) on social networking site Twitter.
In the construction of the bag Emily and the Coach design team decided to produce a functional space that was aesthetically chic and contemporary. A tote handbag was chosen and incorporated key features such as a padded pocket on the side to hold a digital SLR camera and a sectioned compartment to store flat shoes. The main body of the handbag shows natural canvas trimmed with leather, complemented by central vertical stripes in blue and white – dominant colours of both the American and British flags – and converts into a wonderfully chic travel bag when flying long haul.
Coach held a fabulous soiree in London’s flagship store, 41 New Bond Street, last week to help debut the luxurious ‘Blogger’ bag with Emily present.
Emily said, “Since being given the opportunity to design a bag with Coach, my feet haven’t touched the ground! Coach is the pinnacle of luxury and sophistication. Designing a bag with a brand that I have always held in such high regard has been the most nerve-racking, but also the most exhilarating, experience of my life. I couldn’t be prouder or more pleased with what we have produced.”
